Meet Ilze du Plooy, Project Coordinator at OAS Technology

Ilze moved from South Africa to Australia a little over two years ago and has over 13 years’ experience in a client engagement role of which the last 7 have been in the IT industry. Wife to a fellow South African and mum of two very busy boys, Ilze has hit the ground running and we are excited to call her part of the OAS Family.

What motivates you at work?

To make a success of every challenge and to always perform to the best of my ability. At the end of each day, I want to be able to rest easy knowing that I am the best version of myself.

What’s the greatest thing/advice/tool you took away from a previous job/role?

With any task I take on, I always think of myself as the CEO of my own company. Having this frame of mind instilled some great values in my work etiquette and focusses me on being outcomes-based.

Who inspires you?

My Mum – She has taught me the importance of humility. For as long as I can remember, she has always been kind and gracious to everyone she meets. She taught me to treat everyone we meet with respect and to act with humility. My dad is very headstrong and has incredible perseverance. He told me to never quit and always chase my dreams. And finally, my husband, who has been a constant example of integrity. He has some of the strongest moral principles of anyone I know.

Why did you choose OAS?

OAS has a great culture; they believe in investing in their staff and offer a well-balanced work environment.

Their core values are well aligned with my own workplace values.

  • Work towards a collective goal
  • Going the extra mile
  • Providing exceptional service

Favourite movie or book?

I am a bit of a softy when it comes to movies and one of my favourite movies would be ‘A Good Year’. This movie is set in Southern France and if I could choose anywhere to live it would be there. Contrary to my softer side; I enjoy reading psychological thrillers and if I had to choose a book it would have to be one from the Hannibal series.

Summer or winter?

Summer without a doubt! That being said, after experiencing the Australian summer, winter is not a bad option.
