Meet Alison Slater

| About us, Blog

We have welcomed Alison in the middle of lockdown, however that has not stopped her from hitting the ground running and becoming an integral part of what we are all about at OAS.

Tell us a little bit about yourself

I grew up in Western Sydney, studied in Melbourne and then spent a number of years overseas working on cruise ships, mainly out of the USA, in my first career as a dancer. To date, these were the toughest and most rewarding years of my professional life!

I relocated with my family from Sydney at the end of 2019, after purchasing our first home in Lake Macquarie. The move was not only the best decision for our family, but little did we know that we bought our house only months before sale prices went bananas – phew!

Your career achievements so far?

I secured a role with an entrepreneur in Sydney, who mentored me and saw me rise from PA to the Operations Manager across his many businesses and assets. This role was a huge turning point in my career, teaching me resilience and the ability to manage stakeholder expectations, alongside nurturing a workplace experience through rapid and continuous change.

Why did you choose OAS?

OAS were a client while I was working as a Recruitment Consultant. I popped in to check in on some candidates whom I placed with OAS, and they invited me in for a coffee. I got to experience the people and culture firsthand, they are quite simply good people. Plus, after a 30 min call with the CEO David Lynch, OAS designed a role based on my skills and passion areas – how could I say no?

What do you love most about your job?

Connecting with the people! Which is crazy because I have been working 100% remotely since I started, but there is a strong sense of team and collaboration at every turn. Everyone is working towards the end goal of creating the best service for our clients.

What do you do to stay motivated, in particular in the current WFH situation?

I am pretty self-motivated, but when I need a pick me up I usually teams someone. Or I rewrite my to do list!

Describe yourself in three words?

Resilient, independent and positive

Tea or Coffee?

Coffee – I have an 18 month and a 4 year old! So actually wine!
